Wow! Stop Motion by Wes Anderson?
This has totally been under the radar here. No one is talking about it!!!

I'm getting a Luke Wilsonish vibe from that character....

That painting in the background just *screams* Wes Anderson. He's always such an obsessive designer of his sets that I'm really excited to see what he does with an environment he can completely control in this way. Should be fun.

I can't wait for this, though I'm also a little nervous...since Wes Anderson is one of my favorite filmmakers, I'm not entirely sure where that nervousness stems from. I should really read Dahl's book, so I have a better idea of what I'm looking at.

Debbie-

I was just asking Chris about that...

Is it stop motion?? I was under the impression that it was straight animation, but when I saw those stills I had the same thought as you. Is it possible for straight animation too look like that???

Craig-

Totally on that "Luke Wilsonish vibe". I think it's the white button down that does it.

Ed-

Good point. Wasn't he supposed to be working with the same animators that did the final underwater sequence for Life Aquatic. I love that sequence.

Bill-

I know what you mean. I'm nervous too. When I first heard about Anderson doing an animated film, I kinda just wished he would do another live action instead of dabbling, but now I'm pretty excited. Who knows, maybe this will be Anderson's best shot at an Oscar (Best Animated Feature).

I read the Roal Dahl book as a kid. Anderson is a perfect fit. Dahl's books were always insanely creative, funny, and often pretty melancholy.

Anyway, this is clearly going to be the most awesome movie of the year.

I'm sure Up already has it in the bag, but wouldn't it be awesome to see Wes Anderson up at the Oscar podium?

Maybe Wes Anderson and Spike Jonze will win Oscars this year and the world will end because everything is so right and perfect, for once.

I agree with that. But something about that first image is a little creepy to me. Maybe it has something to do with combining a fox head with Robin Williams' arms.

BTW... Nice headline.

According to Wiki & IMDB, it's stop mo.
But, I'm sure it's a hybrid of both digital & traditional.

Not sure what you mean by straight animation (? assuming you mean like Pixar films?)
If so, yes it could look very stylized.
You can tell a computer to do anything.

At first, I thought that Robin Williams blast was hilarious, but then I realized you're kinda being racist towards foxes because you don't think they (we) deserve the right to be upright!

Debbie-

Please don't take my lame animation terminology (ie "straight animation") as any kind of a slag, I'm just retarded about this stuff. But yeah, I thought it was gonna look like Pixar-ish stuff.

And on your last point ("You can tell a computer to do anything.")... can you tell my computer to make me a In-N-Out burger here in Texas? Because I'd really like one right now.

Robin Williams's chest is hairier.

I resent that! I'd take Vivica A Fox upright, downright, right now ... however she'd let me.

Actually, since he just had heart surgery, it's probably not.

I probably just bought myself some bad karma.

Sexist.
