ON THAT RECENT PIC OF HELEN MIRREN ON VACATION

Paul McCartney wrote "will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four?". Well, Helen Mirren is 63, and if she were to ask me that question the answer would be a double-entendre'd unqualified YES!

Granted, I have a thing for older women. Not usually ones that are older than my mother, but Helen Mirren is just gorgeous, right? She joins Charlotte Rampling in hottest women over the age of 60 category. (They'd better watch out too, b/c at age 55 Isabelle Hupert is nipping their heals. To me, she's hotter than both).

Have you seen Shadowboxer where Cuba Gooding Jr. makes love to Helen Mirren and it's totally sexy???

I can't believe the director of Ray gets to have sex with her! HUH!?! She could totally score a Michael Cera or Mark Wahlberg.

Wow. That's impressive.

As for Rampling: "Deception" is a lousy movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed her part in it. There's an incredibly brief scene where she's topless astride Ewan McGregor. So brief it's not really worth being in there. But I love to imagine the set that day:

"Ewan: In this scene Charlotte is going to straddle you topless and swing her bare breasts in your face. Try to look like you're having a good time."

Rough day at the office.

P.S. Damn you and your "Shadowboxer" reference. I hate it when I feel compelled to watch a Cuba Gooding Jr flick.

Oh gosh... I don't know. I wouldn't say that Shadowboxer is good. Maybe a 2 star affair. So I hesitate on recommending it.... but, I mean, why not? It's kinda bizarre if nothing else.

I think the sexiest I've seen Ms. Rampling is in Under The Sea. I could be wrong, but I think she straddles someone in that one too.

Geez... is this turning into a softcore porn blog?? I'm posting about hot old ladies above a picture with Jim Browns hairy chest!

Geez, Fox ... but you're right. Mirren is a beautiful woman, but Hupert ... hubba, hubba.

Marilyn said...

Come on. I'm not a guy, but Huppert has zero meat on her bones. Mirren has been hot stuff forever.

Fox said...

Rick - I think I did get carried away a bit too crude with that remark. I would apologize to Mirren if she somehow caught wind of it (like if Jonathan sent her the link or something...). She's too lovely for that type of treatment.

Marilyn - I think you are onto something with the appeal of Huppert. Even though us guys can be very superficial, Huppert has more of a psychological attraction.

Don't get me wrong, I think she's physically pretty (a flawless face... and freckles!! I LOVE freckles!!), but she works on me in the mind too. Like a stern school marm or librarian (see The Piano Teacher, I Heart Huckabees). But then years earlier in Going Places and Passion she just on fire b/c she's young and beautiful. But my FAVE of her was in Gabrielle a few years back. She's sophisticated, yet charged, and I attribute that mainly to the way Patrice Chereau shoots her.

So yeah... there is definitely something going on with Huppert beyond just a big butt and a smile.

But Marilyn, since you're a girl, can I ask you if you find young Gerard Depradieu attractive? I think he was so cool looking when he was young (again, in Going Places).

Marilyn said...

Not really. I'm more into the Latin lover look. My favorite is Valentino. I also think that Eduardo Noriega is the most handsome man alive today.

What's the explanation for all these hot older European actresses(I'd like to throw Nathalie Baye into the mix as well). I wonder if there's more acceptance and roles for older actresses in Europe which allows them to age gracefully, as opposed to actresses in the US who start altering their faces and bodies once they're over 25 to the point where they no longer look like the same person (see Meg Ryan as Exhibit A).

Fox said...

That's a good point.

I would think that you are correct about the the difference in acceptance of Hollywood actresses versus European actresses (who tend to be in more more "artsy" films.)

I think in Hollywood the female roles tend to be for younger women, so, Meg Ryan, Kidman, et al, feel the pressure to stay younger. And it's really unflattering. I mean, think of say... a Holly Hunter. You could argue that when she started out she wasn't as pretty as Ryan or Kidman, but now, she is much lovelier to look at (as far as I know, she's had no plastic surgery). I find her very attractive as she ages. Same goes for Diane Lane. Still, neithr of them are over the age of 60 like the Euros we've mentioned.

Now... here's something else... (you've really got me thinking now)is it perhaps the style of America's older actresses that doesn't hightlight their beauty? Take Mia Farrow and Diane Keaton. Both of them are pretty women, but they dress kinda frumpy and mom-y. Mirren, Rampling, Huppert, would never where such things.

But then there is the exception...

Oh yes... the two exceptions:

Brigitte Bardot and Anna Karina
:.o(

Granted, they are older, but if I recall correctly, Bardot (who's arguably the hottest woman of all time when she was in her prime) wasn't looking so good in her early 60's.

Fox said...

Oh, and good call on the Nathalie Baye btw...

Piper said...

The things I would do to that 63 year old body. Of course, I would be gentle, you know cuz she's 63. And I wouldn't move too fast as to surprise her. And I wouldn't do anything to get her heart beating too fast. And I would talk really loud.

But oh, the things I would do to her.

Marilyn said...

Sure, Piper, blame your caution on her! It's probably because YOU can't move or hear. Men are so fragile!

Fox said...

Remember in Teaching Mrs. Tingle when she's all tied up? I'm just saying... hey, Piper opened the door!

And Piper, I like that you said that you would talk really loud. HAHA! Talking dirty to someone that is hard of hearing is ripe for some type of comedy sketch.

And poor Marilyn... all of this testosterone in here and nobody to share her love for Eduardo with.

Michael Cera or Mark Wahlberg? Sheeeeit, she could score a Bryan Hadley.

Jason Bellamy said...

Here's a good side topic, sparked by the conversations above: which actresses have had the worst cosmetic surgery?

Mia Farrow has got to be up there. She can't move her upper lip. She looks like Helena Bonham Carter ... in "Planet of the Apes." (Helena: another Euro beauty who is aging naturally and is better for it.)

Kidman has to be up there. I can't remember what Meg Ryan looks like because no one hires her anymore.

Also: Rene Russo. Ouch.

So give me HBC, and Helen, and Kate Winslet, and Diane Lane (who probably has had work done, but it doesn't LOOK like it), etc. But here's the catch ...

Check out Angelina Jolie in "Pushing Tin." Well, don't, because it's a brutal film. But there's no question that her nose job, etc., has made her hotter than she was before. I hate saying that, but it's true. Sarah Jessica Parker, same deal.

So when these women screw up their faces it's easy to criticize. But we don't turn away when they get it right. Just saying.

Now returning to my previously scheduled Helen Mirren fantasy.

Fletch said...

Haha - you said "nipping."

Piper said...

Marilyn,

You're exactly right. I am very fragile. I hope that she would treat me with kid gloves. Ooooh, kid gloves + 63 year old Helen Mirren. See how I just turned the kink up a notch?

I'm sorry, were we supposed to have a serious conversation about her or something?

Fox said...

I love how I post about a 63 year old's hot boobies and it gets me the third most comments I've ever had on here (I now know to stop doing reviews of small Israeli films - see Jellyfish below). I've found my niche!! :)

Bryan - I thought that was you walking out of Vulcan Video with a 2-for-Tuesday rentals of Calendar Girls and Shadowboxer!

Jason - For me, it's gotta be Kidman. She went from someone I found to be very attractive (see Eyes Wide Shut) to very unattractive. You know... I'm wondering, has Demi Moore has surgery? B/c her and Diane Lane carry the "aged" look very well. I didn't know Mia Farrow had surgery. That bums me out. Hmmm... is Merryl Streep sexy at all???

Fletch - what ever happened to that woman in Fletch? The one he plays tennis with? She was hot!

Piper - Keep it up! You make me feel less and less guilty about my "feeding" comment earlier. Kid gloves huh?? You is a freak my man!

Fletch said...

Fox, I know exactly what you mean. I kinda tried that experiment a couple weeks ago on purpose. I saw thoughtful, timely reviews I'd done for little-seen movies that got like no comments. So I just posted a poster for Bangkok Dangerous (visitors to my site know that Nic Cage is my adversary) along with a sentence or two.

Now, I didn't get a record number of comments, but I'm sure I got 10+. The ratio of time/effort to comments can be a wacky one, indeed.

Her name's Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, though she's probably dropped one of those names by now. She was in Tombstone as Russell's wife, and I see her every now and then. She's probably in her late 40s now, and still looks pretty good, but yeah, I agree with you. She was hot in 1985.

Piper, you kill me. Just please don't kill me with kid gloves and the aid of a 63-year old woman.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any problems of
plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of completely
unique content I've either written myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any techniques to help protect against content from being ripped off? I'd certainly appreciate
