My pal Bryan tagged me:

[RULES: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.]

1. "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)" - Weezer

Like "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Paranoid Android", but cleaner and cooler. Also, that self-professed claim that Rivers Cuomo makes in the title has a chance of being true. He's at least in the Top 15.

2. "Stepping Stone" - Duffy

I think people are hatin' on her partially out of Amy Winehouse hangover (no pun intended... I feel bad for that girl), and partially because she's blond and attractive.

3. "Like A Vibration" - The Whigs

If I have such a thing as a "workout song" this would be it. It came out in early '08 but it's always kicking around in my head.

4. "Ashley"/"The Season" - Dodos

I don't usually listen to shuffles or random songs - I prefer whole albums - but when I get the chance to use my wife's iPod, I play these two back-to-back gems over-and-over. On its own, "Ashley" might be might favorite song of 2008 (thus far.)

5. "San Bernidino" - The Mountain Goats

It's like a follow up to Ben Folds Five's "Brick".

6. "Grapevine Fires" - Death Cab For Cutie

A brilliant little song that might actually be about wildfires in the Grapevine area of California, or, a metaphor about interpersonal lines of communication burning away.

7. "Northern Downpour" - Panic At The Disco
Has this been released as a single yet? If not, why not? It will be emo-glam's "Wonderwall".

I tag... I don't know who to tag...

So how about we turn this into a LIST post and just have anyone who'd like to list their fave songs at the moment. Lists are cool.

And, killer video:

I still need to give that a listen. I like just saying the title outloud.

I would watch the video right now but .... you know, web block at work!

I just watched it. It's super cute! And I mean that in an awesome way. You described it to me perfectly in that it's super simple.

My favorite parts are the ping pong and the microphone. Oh, and the ending of course.

It's like Miami Booty-Bass music from a cute Swedish girl. Love it!

Let's see...

Unspeakable Joy by Kim English. Stumbled on this via the dangerous "Just For You" feature on iTunes.

Quien Eres Tu? by Mariajose. One of the free weekly Canciones de la Semana on iTunes this spring. Catchy and cheesy and great fun. She's returning the Fendi.

Reign (Way Out West Instrumental Mix) by UNKLE. It's something like 12 minutes long.

Reach For Me (Solasso Remix) by Kirsty Hawkshaw.

Center of the Sun (Solarstone Remix) by Conjure One.

Sexy Movimiento by Wisin and Yandel. This is my reggaeton song. You really only need one.

Andare by Ludovico Einaudi. One of this week's free downloads from iTunes; really nice piano and cello. Go get it now!

Apparently I'm having a very techno summer. Sorry to harsh your emo mellow, Fox! Oh, and I love Duffy.

I will also have to check out this Konnichiwa Bitches thing.

Hobbes, besides UNKLE, I have no idea what anything on your list is. Damn, what has Somerville done to you? And I had no idea you were into reggaeton! You think you know somebody...

Ha! You will never tire of rubbing my emo nose in it will you??? :) (I suppose that's what I get for dissing your Celtics.) But didn't you like Sunny Day Real Estate? Come on... don't discrimihate!

I hate to break it to Debbie, but all the cool kids like me were into "Konichiwa Bitches" when it came out in 2005.

"Ashley" is such a good song. "Sexy Movimiento" is on the Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack, so it keeps getting stuck in my head.
